About
The purpose of The Constitution, Inc. is quite simple: “To promote civil political discourse, to encourage critical thinking on issues, and to challenge other followers of Christ to love God and others above all else.” I believe that America was founded on the social contract theory of Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau. If the social contract between citizens and government is going to continue to succeed, both elected officials and citizens have to take personal responsibility to understand issues facing us today. We, as American citizens, must hold our government officials accountable for their actions. The Bill of Rights says that powers not delegated to the federal government are given to the states or people to decide. Let’s respect our government officials because they are in authority, but let’s never give up our ability to keep government accountable. The United States government does not properly function without the “consent of the governed.”
